The Rev. Timothy Stone (1774-1852) never finished his 600-page manuscript of Cornwall’s earliest history (1740-1800). Gannett’s preface explains his attempt to weave Stone’s “drafts into single composite texts.” This work accomplishes a very detailed recounting of the people, lands, and animals of Cornwall and provides a vivid snapshot of long-ago Cornwall. This volume also includes a centerfold map of 1850 Cornwall.
