Suzanne Fateh of Southbury CT has been name Curator of the Cornwall Historical Society. She replaces Jamie Cantoni who resigned in April.
The Board of Directors made its decision after a two-month search. Ms. Fateh brings more than 20 years of broad museum experience to Cornwall, Most recently she worked as Collections Manager/Registrar at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury where she was in charge of the care of the museum’s collection as well as of works and materials on loan for exhibitions and other uses. She designed exhibits of local and regional history as well as shows which featured the Mattatuck’s collection of art.
From 1999 to 2006 Ms. Fateh was a curatorial assistant at the Gunn Memorial Library and Museum in Washington CT. She oversaw the full-scale cataloging and digitizing of the museum’s collection of nearly 5,000 artifacts.
Ms. Fateh’s career also includes five years in the collections department of the
New-York Historical Society in New York City and three years at the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase NY. She was a member of the board of the Southbury Historical Society between 2006 and 2016 where she created a new permanent exhibit for the organization. She also served on the board of the CT League of History Organizations (CLHO) where she chaired the League’s annual conference events.
“The Historical Society is lucky indeed to be Suzie Fateh’s focus for the coming years,” said Lisa L. Simont, president of the board. “She brings such a wonderful range of ideas, imagination, and good solid experience to Cornwall.”
Ms. Fateh begins work during the week of August 6.
