Off to War

More than 175 men from Cornwall served during the Civil War. Of those, fifty-two were either killed in battle, died from battle wounds and infections, or died from disease. Many were discharged early due to disability or illness. At least two dozen men suffered physical injuries that left them disabled for the rest of their lives. Three men were never able to recover from the horrors of the war: two committed suicide, while the third lost everything he had.

A list of all known Cornwall soldiers can be found on our Cornwall Soldiers page. Links to available biographies can also be found there.
